The Australasian Legal Practice Management Association (ALPMA) welcomes incoming President, Stephen van Dorp, CFO & COO of Mullins Lawyers in Brisbane, into the role.
Stephen steps into the role of President after Dion Cusack, Corporate Services Manager for K&L Gates steps down after reaching his maximum tenure. Dion Cusack served on the ALPMA Victorian Branch Committee for ten years, was a Board Director for eight year and held the role of President for five (5) years from 2017-2022. Amongst other thing Dion led the Association through the uncertain and unsettling pandemic period.
Stephen van Dorp, who is has served on the ALPMA Queensland Branch of ALPMA since 2014, was appointed to the Board in October 2020 and has served as the National Treasurer since this time. Currently he holds dual roles as President and National Treasurer as the recruitment for a new Treasurer is undertaken.
With over 35 years in private and corporate practice, Stephen has extensive experience as a finance and operations executive.
As Mullins Lawyers Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer, Stephen provides strategic direction to the 22 partners and 13 equity partners at Mullins. Stephen oversees every aspect of the firm's business and works closely with the partners to develop strategy and set the direction for the firm's future growth, profitability, and client service.
Stephen's leadership centres on ensuring Mullins staff are guided by the firm's values and professional growth, which enables Mullins to continue to deliver more than law.
Stephen's relationship with ALPMA has spanned over eight years, with positions held in both the Queensland Executive Branch Committee and the National Board as Treasurer. Stephen is incredibly passionate about what ALPMA has done for him and the broader legal practice management professional community.
By leveraging his extensive professional services experience and previous board positions with ALPMA, Stephen has an attainable vision for the association that will continue to build on the fantastic work that has been achieved within ALPMA prior to his commencement as President.
