New Zealand’s new and updated privacy legislation will come into effect on 1 December this year.
The new Privacy Act reflects changing attitudes to privacy, the increased use of technology in daily life and legal developments overseas.
The presenter will describe the background to the new Act and will cover the key changes from the Privacy Act 1993 which include:
- Mandatory privacy breach notification
- Access directions
- Compliance and enforcement – including new criminal offences
- The new principle 12 – cross-border disclosures
