A collaboration between The College of Law’s Centre for Legal Innovation (CLI) and the Australasian Legal Practice Management Association (ALPMA), the event aims to shift the mindset of the legal industry – and act as a catalyst for sustained continuous improvement.

Firms took steps to share the burden amongst staff and partners, and to utilise available mechanisms to reduce cost and share the load. Since late March, top-tier and mid-tier law firms have been implementing various measures in response to COVID-19.

The tendency over the last decade has been for firms to focus on major transformation and innovation programmes to drive change. Some of these, especially at larger firms, have had some success but at tremendous cost in time, effort and (often) consulting fees.   More often, though, the most successful and transformative changes have been simple, straightforward, unglamorous and, primarily, unheralded.

As a technology provider keen to help more firms integrate technology with their core business strategy, here are five things I’ve learnt from firms who implemented successful strategies in 2018.
