ALPMA and The Centre for Legal Innovation at The College of Law (CLI) have joined together to undertake one of the most comprehensive surveys of the emerging professions in legal practice in Australasia.

This year, 288 law firms from across the nation, employing 10,466 people participated in the survey, making it the most comprehensive, independent study of salaries paid at law firms in Australia so far.

The results of the research ‘First Impressions Convert: Increasing Law Firm Profitability From the First Touch-point’ has revealed some significant and very expensive service failings amongst Australian law firms.

The 2017 study collected information on firm investment in innovation, strategies to finance growth and charge-out rates - as well as the firm's performance across a number of key indicators (like profitability, work in progress days, debtor’s days, interest expense, labour cost, rent, and working capital).

The 2017 ALPMA / Crowe Horwath benchmarking survey of NZ law firms shows the sector is expecting an average of 5 per cent growth in the next financial year - building on gross profit margins that currently average nearly 75 per cent.
