The 2026 ALPMA Awards is seeking submissions from firms who have made significant change or innovation in the area of business operations.

The ALPMA Awards celebrate firms whose work is shaping the business of law across Australia and New Zealand. The strongest submissions tell a clear, well-evidenced story — the problem you set out to solve, the thinking behind the work, the discipline of delivery, and the results that followed. The four sections below guide you through that story. Support your claims with both hard data and the voices of the people affected — that combination is what makes a submission compelling rather than just complete.

1. The challenge and your goals:*

What were you setting out do do and why? Address in your response: the problem, opportunity, market shift or strategic goal that prompted this initiative; Why it mattered to your firm, your people, your clients or the wider profession; and the specific goals and outcomes you set out at the outset, and how you would know you had succeeded.

2. Planning and Engagement*

How did you scope the initiative and build support for it across the firm? Address in your response: how you scoped the work - research, benchmarking, internal consultation, etc; who needed to be engaged (leadership, partners, staff, clients, external partners) and how you secured their buy-in; the change management and stakeholder engagement approach in practice; and what you learnt during planning that shaped what came next.

3. Execution*

How was the initiative delivered? Address in your response: The strategy that guided delivery; key decisions, milestones and turning points; what didn't go to plan and how you adjusted; the trade-offs and discipline behind the work. Tip: The judges are looking for thinking and decisions behind delivery, not just a timeline.

4. Results, impact and what sets this apart*

What changed as a result of this initiative, and why does it deserve recognition? This is the most important section of your submission. Address in your response: Evidence of impact - both quantitative and qualitative evidence; what makes this exceptional - what your firm did differently from accepted practice; what makes the initiative innovative rather than simply competent; and what can other firms take from this - what would you tell another firm to do or to avoid if they were starting this work tomorrow?
