Reports to: Chief Operations Officer and BD & Marketing Partner

Location: Melbourne (with flexibility to attend client events, conferences and firm activities in and outside Melbourne as required).

Salary: $100,000 - $105,000 including superannuation FTE

Summary

The BD and Marketing Adviser will fill an exciting role that is pivotal to achieving our strategy. Responsible for working with partners to turn our firm's marketing plans into action, the role is fast-paced, practical and hands-on. It’s a varied role that will enable the right candidate to develop their marketing skills in a wide range of areas.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role that helps plan then coordinates and executes a broad range of marketing activities including content production, events, website, proposals, CRM administration, campaign coordination, reporting and marketing operations. Success in this role will come from being highly organised, proactive and dependable. The successful candidate will thrive on turning ideas into practical actions, keeping multiple projects moving simultaneously and ensuring that deadlines are met without sacrificing quality. This role suits someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work and building relationships to drive outcomes.

You will work closely with partners and senior staff, lawyers, external suppliers (including a website and digital design agency with whom we have a retainer) and paralegals who provide assistance, to bring creativity and invention to our marketing and to ensure consistency and professionalism in all marketing activities.

Responsibilities 

Planning and budgeting

  • Led by our COO and our BD and Marketing Sub-Committee, record and contribute to our annual marketing plan and budget.
  • With the COO, drive action to implement that plan.
  • Monitor and report on progress.

Content and Communications

  • Coordinate our content calendar and marketing activity schedule.
  • Draft, edit and publish articles, client alerts, newsletters, website content and other materials.
  • Coordinate the production of videos, webinars, podcasts and other digital content.
  • Manage LinkedIn and other social media activity.
  • Assist with the development of marketing campaigns supporting priority practice areas, sectors and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the industry associations we work with to support the delivery of external sponsorship benefits.
  • Maintain consistency of messaging, brand presentation and content quality across all channels.

Website and Digital Marketing

  • Working with our website and design agency, maintain and update website content, including service pages, sector pages, lawyer profiles and campaign pages.
  • Coordinate website projects and liaise with external digital marketing providers.

Events and Profile Building

  • Coordinate seminars, webinars, client entertainment events and sponsorship activities.
  • Manage invitations, registrations, attendee communications, venues, suppliers and event logistics.
  • Prepare run sheets, briefing materials and post-event follow-up communications.
  • Support conference participation, speaking opportunities and industry association involvement.
  • Assist with awards and directory submissions.

Proposals and Marketing Collateral

  • Use existing templates to prepare proposals, capability statements and credential documents.
  • Assist with the development of service sheets and packaged offerings.
  • Ensure all materials comply with our branding and quality standards.

CRM, Data and Marketing Operations

  • Maintain CRM, contact databases, mailing lists and marketing records.
  • Support CRM implementation, adoption and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead data cleansing, contact management and reporting activities.

Internal Marketing Support

  • Assist with marketing templates, tools and processes.
  • Support partners and lawyers with marketing-related activities and campaigns including formatting internal and external presentation.
  • Maintain marketing resources, subscriptions, image libraries, templates and brand assets.
  • Coordinate relationships with external suppliers and service providers.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • 1.5 years' experience in a marketing, events, communications, business development or related role.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written communication and editing skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • Willing to work with senior professionals
  • Confident in managing competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication and collaboration.

Desirable

  • Professional services, legal, accounting or consulting experience.
  • Experience in one or more of:
    • event coordination and management
    • working with external agencies
    • contributing to website structure, content and design
    • content creation (including articles and case studies
    • preparing sales documents including proposal and credential documents
    • LinkedIn campaign management
    • basic graphic design using Canva, Adobe Express or similar.
    • photography skills and experience using Adobe Lightroom or equivalent
    • videography and editing skills using Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro etc
    • recording audio and podcast editing experience using Adobe Podcast and Audition
