Navigating AML Changes: Practical Insights from NZ and Preparing for July 2026

Featuring: Lee James, Director at RedeMont

As Queensland and Australia prepare for the upcoming July 2026 Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) changes, practice managers are facing increasing pressure to understand, plan for, and operationalise their firm’s AML obligations. To support our members through this transition, we are pleased to host an exclusive in‑person seminar with Lee James, Director at RedeMont, who brings firsthand experience navigating the AML regime during her time in New Zealand’s professional services sector.

In this highly practical session, Lee will share her real‑world lessons from implementing AML requirements across multiple practices in NZ and how she is now preparing her own organisation for the upcoming Australian reforms. This seminar is designed to provide members with clarity, confidence, and actionable insights to support their own AML journey.

Key topics include:

  • A practical look at AML in New Zealand: How Lee’s experience in NZ shaped her understanding of risk, compliance expectations, and firm‑wide readiness.
  • Determining whether your services are “designated services”: How she approached this critical assessment and whether expert advice was required.
  • Choosing the right consultants, providers, and tools: What to look for, what to avoid, and lessons learned from consulting with internal and external partners.
  • Communication and change management: When they started talking about AML internally, who needed to be involved, and what timelines actually looked like.
  • Key learnings for Queensland practice managers: Practical advice, common pitfalls, and strategic considerations as we move toward the 2026 deadline.

This seminar aims to provide concrete, usable guidance — not theory. Whether your firm is already planning or unsure where to begin, this session will equip you with the insights you need to move forward effectively.
