Employment Law Update – Key Developments
Join Kate Simpson as she discusses the recent introduction of the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022, which has resulted in the most significant changes to the industrial relations space since the introduction of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). Kate will present on:
- An employer’s duty to prevent workplace sex discrimination, harassment and victimisation,
- Plus, the changes to flexible working arrangements, pay secrecy, fixed term contracts and domestic and family violence leave.

Kate Simpson leads the Gold Coast workplace relations team. She has completed a Master of Laws (majoring in labour law) at the University of Sydney and is recognised in both Queensland and Victoria as an Accredited Specialist in Workplace Relations Law. She has worked for a range of corporate and government clients, at both state and local levels.
Kate assists clients with all aspects of employment related and work health and safety law.
She has particular experience in providing advice and assistance in relation to employment obligations, termination of employment and redundancy, transfer of business, enterprise bargaining, work health and safety matters, drafting contracts of employment and policies, workplace investigations and delivering training.
She also has experience in representing clients in unfair dismissal and general protections claims, enterprise agreement negotiations, discrimination claims and other related litigation.
