The Missing Link in the Performance Management Debate
It seems like every other month, another headline screams āX law firm ditches annual appraisalsā. For many this is welcome news. Just the word āappraisalā implies a one-way conversation, of the command and control era ā the unnecessary admin and anxiety that go along with your āmoment in the sunā. Their shortcomings are well known too: many appraisals are infrequent, overly retrospective and ratings-focussed.
