Every year ALPMA conducts a Salary and HR Issues Survey of New Zealand law firms. This year, 155 law firms (representing 4,300 staff) participated in the survey, making it the most comprehensive, independent HR and remuneration study across all roles (including actual salaries paid) within the NZ legal industry.

Key findings include:

  • Average wages across law firms increased 6.6%
  • Wage growth was highest for Lawyers (excluding partners), at 8.6%
  • Only 41% of law firms increased their headcount over 2022 – down from 57% in 2021

Legal Recruitment Specialist, Eden Brown from Fluid Legal, and fellow ALPMA member, Richard Greenaway, CEO Anderson Lloyd,  provide an insightful overview of the current National recruitment market and discuss the HR and Remuneration challenges, being faced in NZ.
