Course Abstract
This session will critically examine if law firm talent management initiatives are keeping pace with legal industry changes. It will review the differences now apparent in law firm workforces, workplaces and workspaces to identify and discuss emerging best practices in innovating talent management in law firms. 

This session will critically examine if law firm talent management initiatives are keeping pace with legal industry changes. It will review the differences now apparent in law firm workforces, workplaces and workspaces to identify and discuss emerging best practices in innovating talent management in law firms. 

The subject areas to be addressed will include: the changing role of talent management/HR professionals as change agents and strategic business partners; the impact of the multi-disciplinary, multi-generational, multi-cultural and multi-talented workforce in law firms; the importance of empirically based people management decision making; millennial leadership skill development; recruitment versus returnships; retention versus employee engagement and productivity; career development (mentoring and coaching versus sponsorship); new approaches to performance management, compensation, rewards and promotion; baby boomer succession planning; and the role of executive education versus law school.
