Debra Filippin | Head of Business Development Asia-Pacific | Pinsent Masons

Debra Filippin is the Head of Business Development, Asia Pacific at global law firm Pinsent Masons. She has worked in business development for global law firms in the Asia Pacific for more than 15 years. Prior to this role she spent almost 10 years at K&L Gates as the firm’s Director of Business Development, Asia Pacific. Before this time Debra spent 10 years in Tokyo during which time she headed up the BD and marketing department for Linklaters in Tokyo and before that, Lovells (now Hogan Lovells) in Tokyo. Debra holds a Masters of Laws from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. In 2015 she completed the Asialink Leaders Program run by Asialink Business. She is passionate about strategy and culture, and the need to constantly challenge traditional ways of working and thinking in order to bring about necessary change.

Sumith Perera | COO | Hall + Wilcox
Sumith is the Chief Operating Officer and the national Head of Corporate Services at Hall & Wilcox. He has over 20 years’ experience in leading and managing teams at professional services firms. Sumith has the overall responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations at Hall & Wilcox and coordinating the activities of the firm’s corporate services areas. Sumith is known for his commercial approach and ability to lead complex time critical projects. He has lead the implementation of the firm’s national expansion strategy and is responsible for leading the firm’s ‘Smarter law’ strategy, developing new and better ways of working with our clients to deliver real value.



 

Eric Chin | Independent Strategy Consultant

Eric Chin is a strategy consultant that works with law firms, listed law firms, LegalTech firms, NewLaw firms and corporate legal departments on strategy, M&A, market analysis and innovation. His experience spans across the Asia-Pacific region with work completed for law firms and Big Four accounting firms across Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Eric’s work in the region has culminated in his induction as one of 30 people to watch in the business of law in Asia in 2015 by Asia Law Portal.

   

Hanim Hamzah | CEO | ZICO Law Network

Hanim Hamzah is the Regional Managing Partner of the ZICO Law network, the first network of law firms established in all 10 ASEAN countries. Now based in Singapore, her 22 years of regional practice experience includes being resident in Malaysia, Japan, and Indonesia where she has been recognised as a “leading lawyer” by IFLR1000 and Asialaw Profiles as well as a “recommended lawyer” in Corporate M&A by Legal 500. In 2018, Hanim has been recognized as one of Indonesia’s Top 100 Lawyers by Asia Business Law Journal and named as External Counsel of the Year by In-house Community Commended Counsel.

 

KK Lim | Head, Cybersecurity and Data Protection Practice | Nanyang Law LLC

Prior to being called to the Singapore Bar, KK has worked in both the public and private sector, specializing in technology and market strategy research and information security consulting. Most notable amongst his work experiences was his appointment as the Chief Privacy Officer (APAC) for a global healthcare research company. In addition, he has also published articles in Privacy Advisor, a publication of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and a chapter contributor to Global Privacy & Security Law, a publication of Wolters Kluwer.
