Session 13 -The Future of Work

The talk will outline 5 important trends for the next 50 years and give examples of some of the risks and opportunities associated with each trend.

The 5 trends are:

1. Power Shift Eastwards; financial, military and cultural influence is moving from West to East. Is this a problem and what can we do about it?
2. Rising Global Connectivity; globalization, the internet and cross-border migration mean greater transparency and ease of communication but they also mean increasing nationalism, rising levels of protectionism and a further loss of privacy. Should we be worried?
3. GRIN Technologies; Genetics, Robotics, Internet & Nanotechnology – why what you already know is probably wrong.
4. Societal Ageing; The coming shifts in consumer attitudes and behaviour.
5. The Environment; the impact of peak oil, peak water and even peak people.
