Anthony Kearns

Anthony Kearns was a litigation solicitor in a number of Australian law firms and a National Claims Manager for an insurer before settling on Risk Management as his vocation. He has been the National Risk Manager with the Insurance Division of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and the Chief Operating Officer of international engineering firm, Lincolne Scott. More recently he has been helping large law firms mange risk through investment in risk management infrastructure and developing the essential skills of their lawyers. He has delivered workshops to most of the large firms in Australia and to a number of large firms in the USA. He has also facilitated workshops on “Building Sustainable Careers in the Law” with final year students at Harvard Law School and the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University and recently advised faculty at Harvard Law School in connection with the development of a new course designed to give first year students hands-on experience in legal judgment, decision making, and teamwork. Anthony brings an innovative approach to risk management that is less about avoiding claims and more about the skills and approach that will help lawyers build sustainable careers and sustainable firms.
