Legal Practice Management News

December 07 Around the States - South Australia

ALPMA SA has a new leader – Coral McDonald. Coral is the Office Manager at Donaldson Walsh and has a wealth of experience in practice management. Coral was appointed Chair at our recent inaugural Annual General Meeting, and has taken up her new role with great energy and enthusiasm. We also welcome two new Committee members, Tom Doman and Julie Barry.

During the past few months, we have continued to hold seminars on a wide range of topics. Richard Levy spoke about “Staying Happy and Positive”. Helen Paige spoke about Knowledge Management, under the title “Learning to Share”. Judy Ross provided valuable information about office ergonomics and preventing and managing injury claims in the workplace.

All our seminars have been well-received and have generated excellent feedback.

A lunchtime meeting was held to debrief on the recent national Conference, to discuss the issues arising from it and how they might be developed through our events during the coming year. We had a record attendance from South Australia at the national Conference, and this will give our Association great momentum during the coming year.

There was a very strong attendance at our Christmas lunch. Jan Martin, Executive Director of the Law Society, spoke about the progress of the new Legal Profession bill, and the opportunities and challenges arising from it for the legal profession.

The ALPMA SA Committee members are:
