August 08 Around the States - Queensland
This year, the Queensland executive resolved to work closely with the Queensland Law Society to improve the profile of ALPMA in regional centres. This has been achieved by presenting on practice management topics at various Law Society seminars. Details are noted below.
Increasing the level of seminar activity is seen by the state executive as a direct way of improving the level of service to our members and also an effective way to lift the profile of the ALPMA generally.
In September. we will have our AGM and election of office bearers which should see a changing of the guard in Queensland as both the President and Vice-president have confirmed their intention to stand down after two and three years respectively. Both will continue to serve on the Executive Committee. Fortunately there has been keen interest in both roles and members can look forward to a continuation of the existing enthusiasm and commitment.
Recently there have been some retirements of long standing members. Peter Scanlan has stood down from the executive after serving for 12 years including 3 years as president. Peter will continue as a member. Ross Bimrose and Tim Juratowitch have both retired after memberships of 20 and 17 years respectively.
